Saturday 3rd January 2026 (19th Verse)

Kuthuvilakkeria kottukkal kattil mel

As the oil lamps glow and on the cot with stout legs

Meththendra panjasayanaththin Meleri

On the very soft cushioned cotton bed

Kothalar poonkuzhal Nappinnaik kongaimel

On the breast of Nappinnai who is wearing bunches of flowers

Vaitthtu kidanda malarmaarba ! Vaay thiravaay

Lying down, O broad chested Lord, open your mouth speak to us

Maiththadan kanninay nee un manalana

O one with kaajal in your eyes, your beloved

Eththanaipodum thuyilezha vottay kann

How long will you keep Him from opening His eyes ?

Eththanayelum pirivattra killayaal

However much you cannot bear to be separated

Thaththuvamandru thagavelor empavai

It does not befit you, so please open the door, my girls

The Lord is in his sleeping chamber, on a majestic cot with legs made of Ivory and an ambience heightened by the tall lamps, resting on a soft mattress. The Lord with the broad chest is resting on  beautiful Nappinnai bedecked with beautiful flowers in her tresses closely. The girls ask the Lord to speak to them, and then addressing Nappinnai “oh beautiful eyed one, why cannot you let go of your Lord and allow Him to wake up even though it is well past dawn now, we know you cannot bear separation from Him even for a second, but that is not fair ; this should not be your nature !”
