Monday 12th January 2026 (28th Verse) (Verse 5 of 5 Singing the Lord’s Praise)

Karavaigall pin chendru Kaanam serndhunnbom

We will go behind the cattle in the forest and eat together

Arivondrum illadha aaykkulathu un drannaip

We are ignorant, cowherds, we are

Piravi perundhanaip punniyam yaamudaiyom

Blessed to be born in your midst

Kuraivondrum illadha Govinda ! undrannodu

Govinda without any blemishes, with you

Uravel namakkingu ozhikka vozhiyadhu

our relationship with you should never cease

Ariyadha pillaiygalom anbinal undrannaich

Innocent Children we are, out of love, we

Chiruper azhaiththanavum seeriyaruladhe

Called you small endearing names, don’t be angry with us

Iraiva nee thaaraay paraiyelor empavai

Lord, please give us our boons, my girls

Sri Andal is at the verge of asking her boon for which she performed the month-long nonbu, she has seen the Lord, got His attention, sung his praise to her heart’s content , asked for some gifts, got ready to celebrate. She now feels it is the right time to also reiterate the context, reintroduce themselves and also ask for forgiveness before asking for the real boon.

So she goes on to say we are the simple cowherds who drive the cattle to the forest and thus earn our daily bread, we are without much intelligence, but have been wonderfully fortunate to be born in this clan and be in your midst, You are the truly blemishless Govinda, the bonds and relationship that we have with you cannot ever be broken, We are small girls and it is possible that out of our enthusiasm and deep love for you, we might have taken liberties with you and in calling your name in singular, so please pardon and forgive us. Oh Lord, please grant us the “parai” boon that we seek.
